COVID19 Construction Update: Some Greater Sydney construction sites to commence from 31 July 2021

On 28 July 2021, NSW Gov. announced work on some construction sites in Greater Sydney can commence from 31 July 2021, if a COVID-19 Safety Plan is in force.


Updates to the NSW Government Public Health Order:

  • Additional working hours for sites: Sundays and public holidays up to Christmas 2021
  • Work is prohibited in 8 LGAs: Blacktown, Campbelltown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool Parramatta
  • Construction workers in restricted 8 LGAs must not leave their LGA to attend work
  • Preparatory work permitted from 29 July 2021 for work commencing 31 July 2021
  • Restrictions apply to number of workers at occupied residential premises
  • Occupied residential premises:
    • Maximum of 2 workers for internal areas
    • Maximum of 5 workers for outdoor areas (if all workers carrying out outdoors)
    • Persons other than workers not permitted in the room where work is carried out

COVID 19 Construction Update: NSW construction sites shut down until end of July 2021

On 17 July 2021, the NSW Government issued a public health order directing that work not be carried out on construction sites in Greater Sydney. "Following construction sites being shut down over 17 – 18 July 2021, builders and subcontractors should review their contracts closely and attend to issuing contract notices for extensions of time and suspension of work as applicable," said Nexus National Practice Director Ben Robertson.
