Nexus Construction is proud to announce it is hosting a free educational seminar on Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 (NSW) (SOP Act) for stakeholders in Newcastle.

 

Nexus is proud to announce it is hosting a free educational seminar on recent updates to the SOP Act, at 10.30am on Wednesday 9 June 2021, Hamilton Room, McDonalds Jones Stadium directly after the HIA Hunter’s NCC 2022 breakfast briefing.

“The SOP Act is designed to help deliver speedy resolution of payment disputes. With recent amendments to the Act, it is crucial for builders and suppliers to understand these changes and how to best use the Act to benefit their cashflow,” said National Practice Director – Construction & Infrastructure Ben Robertson, “Through our SOP Act presentation, we explain key facets of the Act, what it is, how to organise Payment Schedules, and a number of tips and traps to watch out for – making it a great introduction for those seeking to better understand the SOP Act and how they can use it to support their business.”

The new NSW Design & Building Practitioners Act 2020 aims at better regulating construction quality and improving consumer confidence. "With most of the Act coming into force from 1 July 2021, practitioners involved in the construction of class 2 buildings should review their business practices to ensure they meet three key elements," said National Practice Director Ben Robertson.
